We pledge to maintain in full public ownership and control all public assets currently held by

the Government of New Zealand and the local government authorities of New Zealand, for

the purposes of promoting public-spirited national development and democratic oversight of the economy.

By signing this pledge, we hereby commit to ruling out any coalition agreement that would

involve providing for asset sales in the next Parliamentary term.

Campaign Overview

66% OF NEW ZEALANDERS WANT MORE PUBLIC OWNERSHIP!

A new Talbot Mills survey shows that two-thirds of New Zealanders support greater public ownership of essential services and infrastructure — including electricity companies, ports and public transport.

And the message crosses political divides: a majority of voters from EVERY political party, including all three governing coalition parties, support public ownership over private ownership.

Our assets. Our future. Our say.

That's why a coalition of unions and community organisations is calling on political parties to sign the National Keep Our Assets Pledge — committing to protect publicly owned assets and rule out asset sales in the next parliamentary term.

Essential services should serve people, not private profits.

It's time for politicians to listen to the public. Keep our assets in public hands!
